Family photo in front of pink graffiti mural by Philippe Mastrocola

Winter family photo session in Montreal’s Plateau neighbourhood

Family photo session

This winter, a tiny urban forest sprang up in front of Mont-Royal metro. It was an interactive art installation called “Dans les bois” created by Stéphanie Leduc and Manuel Baumann. Two walls of tree trunks formed a path through the temporary woods.

I loved it and was so glad the chance came along to use it for a family photo session before it disappeared. I met the Éthier family there on a cold and sunny winter’s day. We took some photos near the faux-forest then headed to Parc Lafontaine.

We took some solo portraits of each family member then included the whole family in several photos. We capped off the family photo session with a relaxed documentary approach as the family enjoyed some hot chocolate and crepes at a local café.

We also took some photos near a graffiti mural by artist Philippe Mastrocola (produced by MU).

I thought it’d be fun to make an animated GIF of this happy family doing the wave!

Hope you enjoy these chilly family photos!
